The beaches on Massachusetts Bay lie most to the North except for Wellfleet which faces West. The beaches on the Eastern shore of Cape Cod are directly on the Atlantic Ocean. They are pretty cold. Coast Guard Beach is included here. It recently made the top 10 beaches in the world by Dr. Beach. Coast Guard beach was number nine. Steven P. So there you have it. Coast Guard Beach is one of the nation's best. Pretty good, but it is still a cold water beach. If you head South we run into the beaches on Nantucket Sound, like the famous Craigville Beach near Hyannis. This water is warmer than the water on Massachusetts Bay or along the Eastern shore and Coast Guard Beach. Continuing West we come to Woods Hole and Buzzards Bay. This is some the warmest water on Cape Cod. Buzzards Bay funnels the warm eddies that curl off the Gulf Stream. These warm eddies go right up Buzzards Bay driving the water temperature in late August into the seventies. And in the coves at low tide even higher. You can cross over the Cape Cod Canal at Bourne and follow Route 6 to Wareham and one of the warmest water beaches on Cape Cod. That beach is Swifts Beach.
