It's Lissa here.
My mother taught me the basics of home cleaning solutions that work before I was a teenager. I always loved to clean our home and I still get great pleasure in having a clean home. I know it sounds like I'm some kind of nut, but I really do enjoy house cleaning and having everything neat and spotless. I guess you could call me a home cleaning freak, a manic house cleaner with a disposition for clean, or just plain weird. Yes, I am obsessed with home cleaning.
Why not try my home cleaning solutions.
And you know what? Some of the best home cleaning supplies are all natural and you probably already have them in your home. Here's a list of the best:
- Baking Soda
This works as well as the popular commercial abrasive cleaners for pots and pans. It also serves as a great deodorizer so keep an open box in your freezer and refrigerator and offensive odors will be absorbed and done away with. It can be combined with vinegar to make an even better solution for cleaning the bottom of pans, even those copper clad ones.
Vinegar is a wonderful natural cleaning. It comes in gallon bottles and is cheap. A solution of one part water and one part vinegar can be put in a spray bottle. Just spray away - it will clean most anything and not only does it clean, but it is a deodorizer and disinfectant too. We use it to clean our ceramic tile floors. It does a great job on them, We pour it on the floor and use a Switcher mop to get the tile clean as a whip., Make sure you use it diluted on ceramic tile because the acid can eat away the grout. Never use it on marble floors or surfaces, however. Don't worry about you home smelling like vinegar. The smell dissipates quickly.
Use full strength vinegar on the toilet bowl It will get rid of any rings around the edges of the bowl. Just make sure to let the water level drop and pour in the vinegar full strength. For the rest of the bathroom clean it with vinegar. It will remove the hard water marks and soap scum. For the floor use a diluted version if it is ceramic tile so as not to destroy the grout.
In the kitchen, use vinegar on the floor, appliances, counters.and stovettops
Need a natural fabric softener? Use vinegar. Wait for the rinse cycle and add 1/2 cup of vinegar. It will also help to break up laundry detergent and flush it out with the rinse water.
Lemon cleans and shines brass and copper. Mix it with vinegar and baking soda. This paste can be used to not only cleans pots and pans, but also your counter top. Use a half a lemon and some baking soda to scrub surfaces, dishes, and stains. Need a furniture polish? Just mix 1/2 cup lemon juice with 1 cup of olive oil.
Lemons also make a good deodorizer for your garbage disposal and your trash can.
