Just in time for summer, the renowned Dr. Beach has released his annual list of the best beaches USA.
Dr. Beach is really Dr. Stephen Leatherman, a professor at Florida International University's Laboratory for Coastal Research.
You wouldn't expect a beach on Long Island would get to the top of top ten beaches USA, but it does. It's Coopers Beach in Southhampton, New York. See the video below. It won because it has a great safety record, some seaweed and jellyfish, soft sand, temperature, and a shoreline with lapping waves.
Dr. Beach claims New York has world-class beaches, but he doesn't think many people know about them.
What are Cape Cod Beaches, Dr. Beach? Chopped Liver? If New York beaches are so great, why do New Yorkers flock to Cape Cod?
The next in line is Siesta Beach in Sarasota, Florida. Next, we travel across the country to San Diego, California for the third beach in the list - Coranado Beach in San Diego, California.
It's not until we get to the seventh beach on Dr. Beaches list that a local beach pops up - it's Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod. Check out the video below.
I have listed the entire top 10 list by Dr. Beach below.
Coopers Beach Southampton, New York
